I don’t think so. Of course, there are going to be those who say I’m not doing something right. And, maybe that’s true. But, I haven’t seen an “overnight sensation” that didn’t spend days, weeks or maybe even years getting ready to become that overnight sensation.
The same seems to be true with online businesses. We all have read about the ways to make it overnight, to end all our financial woes from one single program. We have read the tales of so-called gurus who are cashing those checks for tens of thousands of dollars each week. It doesn’t just happen!
Several of my friends and I have set up a few online sites, and we are making a few dollars… several hundred a month. But, none of us are planning to quit our day jobs yet. All that said, I do believe that anyone… and I do mean ANYONE… can supplement his income sufficiently to take the stress out of life.
One thing I have learned is that regardless of all the hype I have read, there is no set it and forget it plan. Most of the people I have talked to or exchanged emails with have worked long and hard for any success they have achieved. I am now a firm believer that it takes six months to a year to realize any true success. And, it takes a little work everyday to get there.
First of all, I still love the BANS concept. It is easy and it is fast. We are now making several hundred dollars a month from our BANS sites, more than enough to make the purchase of BANS worthwhile.
There have been lots of changes and updates with the program that make it a better money making machine than it was originally.
When I first purchased the BANS program it worked like a charm for the first month or two. Then, I began to notice a drop off in traffic. I began to add content to the site. Content! That meant a little more work than just setting up the site. Of course, adding content takes a little time, but it is well worth it. I keep reading that Google likes content and apparently that’s true.
Secondly, there is now a tendency to suggest that if you set up a BANS site you need to add a BLOG to it. Well, that is easy enough! I have a friend who has put her blog in the root directory and added BANS sites is a couple of subdirectories. She is making money now… and it is steadily increasing each and every month. Most of those who are BANS “experts” tell you all the ways to find the right niche. There are all kinds of keyword search programs, etc. that supposedly lead you to that special niche where you will make your fortune overnight. My friend who is making the most monthly income from her BANS sites didn’t purchase the first keyword program! First of all, she found a niche that interested her. Obviously, she loves designer shoes. Once she decided on shoes, she browsed eBay and did a really scientific search! (I say that with tongue in cheek!) She looked for the name brands that had the most bids! It took some browsing and a little time… and of course, she bought a pair of shoes along the way.
The keyword searches, while quite valuable, tell you what people are searching for. That’s a great place to start. But, watching auctions end and seeing the number of bids on closing auctions tells you what people are actually buying. As Margot said, “I don’t care what they are window shopping for! I care about what they are spending money on.”
Well, that isn’t as scientific as employing all those keyword tracking programs, etc. But, she is making several hundred dollars a month. I have another friend who didn’t think for herself, but followed all the keyword searches exactly as described. She’s making less than a hundred dollars a month.
I’m not knocking keywords, because you will have to come up with specific keywords or key phrases to get traffic to your site. I’m just saying that for all the gurus out in the virtual world, a little common sense still goes a long way to success. Don’t be afraid to break away from the herd.

Anyway, you may be thinking that you don’t want to know how to change anything in a blog. You just want to fill in the blanks, so to speak. Well, that’s what I thought until I realized that BANS is now suggesting an integration with a blog.
Of course, someone has already come up with a program that does that. But, once again, the variations are limited (so far) and unless you understand how to change the colors or the text on a blog site, your blog/store is going to look like every other blog/BANS site.
Whether you decide to purchase the little instruction manual for blog alterations or not, I am still suggesting that it was one of my best online purchases. I learned something and starting from ground “0″ as I did, I am now confident that I can pretty much make any blog mine!

I have to say that I am not one to buy everything I see online. I didn’t even buy the BANS program until I saw it work… from someone I know! I didn’t want to see just the site, I wanted to see the results. And, not a “screen shot.”
However, I will say that the BANS program, the free wordpress themes, Hostgator, and the little ebook about changing wordpress themes have made a difference in my outlook on earning money online. It can be done! But, it takes work. Of course, it becomes easier over time. But, whatever the program you may begin, be prepared to put in a little effort. Overnight successes online take a few months to reach their potential.
