Recently, I was asked why I only posted once a day on this site. It isn’t lack of interest or lack of information. The answer is far simpler. I more or less fell into the eBay thing. I had no intention of selling anything on eBay, until I ran into the bra deal. And, even then it didn’t occur to me to sell on eBay. Only when my husband mentioned the idea did I give it a thought. I’m not going to claim credit for getting started. Once I had purchased the lingerie stock I had little choice but to sell it. EBay was the vehicle.
Once into the Internet as the Rolls Royce of vehicles, I realized that people weren’t limiting themselves to selling on eBay. It had never occurred to me that the Internet was the world’s largest marketplace and it covers the entire world. That’s where the problem began for me. I was like a kid in the candy store. I wanted to do some of all of it. So, I collected as much information as I could. Now, you might think that was a good idea. And, to a point it was. But, at some point you have to just get started.
If you have looked through the “Everything eBay” page, you know there are more opportunities than you will ever be able to reach. I admit, I tried most of them. And, some worked well and continue to work well for me.
That brings me to what I have to say today. I suggested that you do some research and look carefully at every opportunity that interested you. That’s all well and good. You need to get familiar with eBay or blogs or network marketing or whatever you are considering. But, at some point you have to push the clutter you have collected aside and just get started.
If you have yet to make a decision, today may be the day to do that. I also realize that some of us would rather “get ready” to do something than to do it. It’s called procrastination. So, at this time I’m going to suggest that you jump into the water. Get your feet wet if you haven’t done so yet. While I strongly suggest that you choose wisely, I also suggest that you can over analyze anything and by doing so, you never get around to doing anything.
If you haven’t visited Re-Creating Reality, maybe now is the time to do so. There is a series on setting goals that may help you get started. There are many other sites that are equally as good and maybe better. I am just most familiar with that one. I particularly like it because while it gives you infinite hope, it doesn’t go off on some wild dream that tells you to sit and think about “getting rich” online. It is hard core instruction (in general) on how to get started and how to set goals.
Now that I’ve said that, I’m going to share a story about a friend of mine. We have for years…. and I mean at least ten years… talked about making money online. Both of us earned substantial extra income on eBay but wanted more. We began looking at various opportunities and tried a few. Ten years later, my friend has a server full of wonderful opportunites and email courses (mostly unopened) that were just too good to pass up. And, with each new opportunity the last one found its way to a file folder. Now, there are file folders inside other file folders inside other file folders and she is still doing exactly what she did ten years ago.
It isn’t that she isn’t as smart as the next one. It is that she is so determined to find the exact best opportunity, and each one that arrives in the email box looks better than the last, that she has never really gotten started. She’s still planning and talking about making money.
Now, in all fairness she is smarter than I. She understands computers far better than I ever will or ever hope to. She has gigabytes of information. She has read some of it, probably much of it and has a tremendous understanding of how others say things work and how they should work. Unfortunately, she has never worked the plan. She has knowledge, but has never put it to use. Regardless of what you may heard, knowledge is not power. Knowledge is potential power. You have to put it to use if you are going to gain power from it.
So, if you have perused this site and the resources here or on other sites, I suggest that you pick an idea or a concept that really turns you on…. and get started. Other new ideas will come along and you will be enticed to give some a try. But, if you have one thing going well, you will have time to start another stream of income. But, you have to get started.
Pick an idea. Decide when you are going to start. Set a date and time. Make an appointment with yourself…. and get started.
